The key to building a loyal following is to get people to come back to your content and engage with it on a consistent basis. We call the total number of people that engage with your business or app on a daily or monthly basis “Daily Active Users” or “Monthly Active Users”.
When you study your daily and monthly active users, you get a sense of how many people are enjoying your app and specifically how they are using it. This gives you a deeper understanding of your users and helps you better market and design products for them.
While it’s possible to build a large number of daily and monthly users on a website, it’s a whole lot easier to do it on an app. An app is much more accessible because it’s already on your users’ mobile devices, so it’s easier for them to come back day after day.
Building a large number of daily and monthly active users for your app is actually pretty simple. I have 6 tips I want to share with you today that will make your app users want to come back day after day and engage with your content!
- Effective Onboarding
The first thing you’ll want to do is make your onboarding process as simple as possible. Your users want to start using your app right away, so make sure creating an account on your app is a quick and easy process.
With this being said, you’ll also want to make the process of signing into your app after creating an account quick and easy as well. People dread the idea of filling in their email address and password every time they sign in somewhere, so consider keeping them signed in to your app, using face ID, or having them use a 4-digit pin number to sign in to your app.
- Good Functionality and User Experience
Make sure your app functions well and is designed for a fantastic user experience! If your app is glitchy or hard to navigate, I can almost guarantee your daily and monthly active user list will be short (like, very short).
People just don’t have the time or patience nowadays to try to use a poor-functioning app. Reduce your users’ frustrations by giving them the best experience possible when using your app.
- Push Notifications
Push notifications are basically magic. They are a highly efficient way to keep users coming back and engaging with your app. Make sure you utilize push notifications when you release new content, have an announcement, or launch a new product on your app.
Push notifications keep users informed with your latest and greatest app updates and remind them to come back day after day.
- Consistent Content
In order to provide real value to your users, you’ll want to release new content consistently. This keeps your users interested because you’re constantly providing them with fresh and helpful content they can apply to their lives.
It’s also a great idea to release content on the same days and at the same times every week so that your users will know exactly when to expect new content from you.
- Challenges and Contests
A great way to keep your users engaged with your content is to host challenges and/or contests on your app. Depending on your niche, you can create daily, weekly, or monthly challenges to keep users coming back and checking in to your app.
Hosting challenges also gives your users a community to be involved in. The users who participate in your challenges can motivate and relate to one another which will build a strong and loyal community of app users.
- 2-way Communication
Finally, you’ll want to provide a way to have 2-way communication with your users so you can get their feedback and answer any questions they have. When you give your users a chance to connect with you and share their experience, they will be more engaged and loyal to your business simply because they will feel like they are involved in it in some way!
It’s easier to market to users that already know about your business and engage with it on a consistent basis, so it’s important to focus on building a large number of daily and monthly active users, not just a large number of users in general.
