What App Builder is Right for me?

October 27, 20225 min read

The idea of using a no-code app builder has become more and more popular in recent years.

No-code app builders allow you to create apps in a visual manner without writing any code. Because of this, these kinds of app builders have proved themselves to be extremely useful due to their ease of use and wide range of pre-built features.

But, with so many different app builders to choose from, how do you know which is the best option for you?

Today, I will be sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly of the 9 most popular app builders so you can make the best choice for yourself!

iBuildApp 3/10

Starting with the lowest rated app builder (in my humble opinion) is iBuildApp.

This app builder allows you to pick from 1000+ of different templates to start building your app for Apple and Android. It also allows you to add your branding and the site will even submit your app to the App Store and Google Play for you. However, the cheaper the plan you get, the more limitations your app will have.

Overall, here’s the rundown for iBuildApp:

  • Positives:

    • 24/5 support

    • Easy to implement

  • Negatives:

    • Limited app downloads

    • Can get pricey

    • Has app content requirements

  • Price: $24-$395/month

Zoho Creator 4/10

Moving on to the next app builder on our list, Zoho Creator. This app builder is low-code and lets you launch custom, mobile-ready apps. You can create apps to automate workflows, internal processes, and manage databases using Zoho Creator’s uses a drag-and-drop interface.

AppMachine 4/10

Next, we have AppMachine. This app builder offers a wide-ranging of features to create a mobile app suitable for most businesses. It also allows you to import content directly from your website. However, the software cannot white label your app unless you pay for one of the more expensive packages.

Overall, here’s the rundown for AppMachine:

  • Positive:

    • High flexibility

    • Live preview function

  • Negative:

    • Some features are not available yet

    • Many features restricted at lower pricing

  • Price: $49-300/month

ShoutEm 4/10

Up next, we have ShoutEm. This app builder offers a drag-and-drop interface and its higher priced plans offer native apps for iOS, Android and iPad. However, the basic plan can only create web apps using HTML5 coding.

Overall, here’s the rundown for ShoutEm:

  • Positive:

    • Automated publishing

  • Negative:

    • Only available in English

    • Only higher tier plans offer simpler editing

    • Low pricing is code editing only

  • Price: $79-149/month

Appery.io 5/10

Next, let’s take a look at Appery. Appery’s platform creates apps for iOS, Android and Windows in both hybrid and HTML5 formats. It also offers the possibility to write your own code in JS or CSS. However, this means it’s probably not the best platform for those without experience with programming.

Overall, here’s the rundown for Appery:

  • Positive:

    • Pre-built themes

    • Analytics feature

  • Negatives:

    • Charges more for multiple apps

    • Pricing fluctuations

    • No refund policy

  • Price: $99-$200 a month

Appypie 5/10

Moving on down the list, we have Appy Pie. This app builder provides users with templates to create games, organizational apps, shopping carts, and more. Appy Pie also has an analytics feature that measures conversion rates, engagement levels and current active users.

Overall, here’s the rundown for Appypie:

  • Positive:

    • Out-the-box templates

    • White label projects

  • Negative:

    • Out-of-date templates

    • Poor customizability

    • Confusing to use

  • Price: $15-$50 a month

GoodBarber 6/10

Now, let’s take a look at the app builder, GoodBarber. GoodBarber offers a variety of app customization, as well as 45 pre-made social integration tools. However, if you have the basic plan, you will be limited to the number of push notifications you can send each month.

Overall, here’s the rundown for GoodBarber:

  • Positive:

    • High levels of social media integration and customization

  • Negative:

    •  Have to pay for a lot of extra features

  • Price: $25-96/month

BiznessApps 8/10

One of the best app builders on this list is BiznessApps. This app builder will scan your website and import that content into your app. It also provides stats tracking and analytics, as well as integration with mailing lists and loyalty programs.

Overall, here’s the rundown for BiznessApps:

  • Positive:

    • Well functioning app analytics

    • Can scan your website for you to implement its content

  • Negative:

    • Can only build one app per payment

    • Can’t easily edit templates

  • Price: $99/month per app

22apps 9/10

Finally, we have the best app builder (in my opinion): 22apps! 22apps software allows anyone to build their own app (although it’s primarily targeted towards entrepreneurs and small businesses) but it’s functional for nearly any purpose.

It is a true drag-and-drop app builder rather than a template builder, but still has template functionality to help you jumpstart your app-building process. It is so easy to use that anyone can use it, and has minimal app limitations. 22apps also offers free dedicated customer support.

  • Positive:

    • Built apps can be featured on the 22apps website and app

    • Complete customizability

    • Free premium done-for-you customer support

    • Offers a great tutorial system

  • Negative:

    • Can only build one app per account

  • Price: $97/mo.

As you can see, there are tons of different app builders to choose from that don’t require you to have any coding experience.

The best app builder for you is dependent on your budget and desired features, however, my personal recommendation is 22apps!
